Okay, so! I am getting confirmed into the Catholic Church in April, and, of course, needed a white dress! (By the way, Confirmation is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, when we become adult Catholics, and shoulder the burden-it's a good burden-of making sure we remain good Christan men and women. Clicky for more.) My sister still had her dress, but, well, I tried it on and it was way too short. I grow, sometimes. :D
So, anyway, my mom and I began to search for a white confirmation dress. It doesn't sound too difficult, but, well, at our church, the limit for a neckline is two fingers below the neck,
making it very hard to find a modest (and affordable!) traditional confirmation dress. After an hour or two of online search, I looked away from high priced white dresses with no sleeves, and said, "Mom, we need to pray." We clicked Exit on the internet, and asked St. Anthony for help. On my own, I asked my Confirmation Saint, Maximillan Kolbe. (For those of you who wonder why Catholics pray to Saints, click here.) My mom suddenly turns to me and says, "Caroline, I just can't see y
ou in a dress like that! I'm seeing you in bell sleeves, with like, crushed velvet...or something! Something like Arwen from the Lord of the Rings!" So, we searched for a white LOTR like dress. And this is what we came up with:
SEE! SEE! SEE! Okay, mature, good, composure, good. Okay, anyway...So, it's modest, it's affordable, and it's got Lord of the Rings style! YES! (In case
you didn't notice, I
like the
Lord of the Rings.) And, to go with the dress, we got a silver belt, (see picture beneath the dress), the kind that hangs loosely around the hips, (Eowyn style,) a medival wedding veil, which I have to sew, but just above is what it should look like, and then, white pumps. :D So, does anyone notice a theme here? LOTR stuff, and white and silver. This should be fun! :)
