Yay Me!

So...I'm kind of proud of myself. I made Corn Beef & Cabbage and Irish Soda Bread all by myself. Then again, all you do is boil vegetables and meat...and boil them...and boil them...and boil them...for about 7 hours, and then you're done. Well, whatever. Baking bread is REAL cooking...so there. :D The kids had green Sprite, and our parents had green-dyed O'douls non-alcoholic beer. My older brother started saying random statements like, "If you like carrots then...be a carrot," That's my brother for ya-random as anything. I love my crazy family. Anyway, here's some pictures for ya.

Irish Soda Bread made from my grandma's recipe.
Corned Beef and Cabagge...boiling...and boiling...and boiling.
Green Sprite. Me lovers!
The crystal was a wedding gift to my Mom and Dad. Caroline set the table with her own special silverware.
Saying grace.
And the finished product, served on my Great-Grandma Mooney's handpainted china from France (she bought it for $50 on her wedding day for a 12 piece set!).
So, we have my Mom's Grandma's China, my Dad's Mom's recipes, crystal glasses from my Mom and Dad's wedding, coupled with Caroline's silverware. I find this very appropriate since St. Patrick's Day is a day for the Irish (and Irish-at-heart) to thank God for bestowing on our ancestors the gift of the Faith. And while we didn't have 30 guests over this year, it was nice to have a quiet, but fun St. Patrick's Day for a change...and maybe next year we'll throw a big, Sheahan-sized party again.

2 cupcake(s) so far :D:

  1. Great job! Looks like you had a beautiful feast day celebration.
